Baadshaho box office collection Day 1: This Ajay Devgn and Emraan Hashmi film is expected to open well at the box office, given its star cast. This Milan Luthria directorial also stars Vidyut Jammwal, Esha Gupta and Ileana D’Cruz.
Ajay Devgn and Emran Hashmi’s film Baadshaho is off to a good start at the box-office. The first day collections of the period action-thriller is a good sign that the film will move ahead in the right direction. Trade Analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted, “#Baadshaho starts on a SOLID NOTE… Fri ₹ 12.03 cr. India biz… Biz should only grow stronger on Sat and Sun.”

It’s going to be a thrilling Friday, for Anurag Kashyap‘s Raman Raghav 2.0 releases today. Nawazuddin Siddiqui stars as serial-killer Raman Raghav in the film while Vicky Kaushal features in the role of a trouble cop in the movie. Raman Raghav 2.0 narrates the story of a man who had terrorised Bombay in the 1960s with his heinous acts of murder.

Yami Gautam and Pulkit Samrat’s Junooniyat also hits screens today. Directed by Vivek Agnihotri, the love story also stars Hrishitaa Bhatt. One can also opt for other Bollywood films like, 7 Hours To Go, A Scandall and Homestay at the theatres today.

Hollywood has the much-awaited Independence Day: Resurgence on offer today. Directed by Roland Emmerich, the sequel to Independence Day is set 20 years after the events of the first film. Jeff Goldblum reprises his role in the film which also stars Liam Hemsworth, Bill Pullman, Judd Hirsch, Vivica A Fox, Brent Spiner, Charlotte Gainsbourg, Jessie Usher, Maika Monroe and Sela Ward.

The regional section is represented by Tamil film Amma Kanakku this Friday. Starring Amala Paul and Revathi, the movie follows the journey of a teenager and her mother.

Today’s Big Release: Udta Punjab and Dhanak

The wait is over as Shahid Kapoor‘s Udta Punjab finally hits the screens today. After being embroiled in row with Central Board of Film Certification (The board asked for 89 cuts and omission of word Punjab in the title) the producers are content that the Bombay High Court cleared the film with just one cut and an A certificate.

Co-produced by Phantom Films and Ekta Kapoor’s Balaji Motion Pictures, Udta Punjab stars Shahid as a drug addicted rockstar and Alia as a Bihari migrant. The movie deals with the issue of drug abuse in Punjab and features Kareena Kapoor as a doctor and Diljit Dosanjh as a cop.

Nagesh Kukunoor’s Dhanak is also releasing this week. The film, which has won awards in international film festivals, is a heartwarming tale of brother-sister bond.

Hollywood brings three interesting films from different genres.

Now You See Me 2 is a thriller which boasts of an impressive star cast. The film has Daniel Radcliffe, Jesse Eisenberg, Mark Ruffalo, Woody Harrelson, Michael Caine and Morgan Freeman. It is a sequel to 2013 film of the same name.

Finding Dory is the sequel to 2003 hit animated film Finding Nemo. The film stars Ellen DeGeneres as Dory and Albert Brooks as Nemo’s Father.

Third in the line is Dwayne Johnson’s Central Intelligence. It is an action comedy which also stars Kevin Hart.

Other films to release are Awake: The Life of Yogananda, Gentleman, Luv U Alia and Enakku Innoru Per Irukku.

Moviegoers are in for a thrilling Friday as Amitabh Bachchan and Nawazuddin Siddiqui‘s Te3n will hit the big screen. The film chronicles Mr Bachchan’s quest to find his missing granddaughter with help from Nawazuddin, who plays a priest and Vidya Balan (in extended cameo role), who plays a cop. As the cold trail of his missing granddaughter is revived when a similar crime is committed, Big B embarks on a thrilling journey in the streets of Kolkata to find her. The film is directed by Ribhu Dasgupta and produced by Sujoy Ghosh, the director of Kahaani. Randeep Hooda, a former MMA artiste and Kajal Aggarwal’s romantic story Do Lafzo Ki Kahaani also releases today. The film is directed by Deepak Tijori. Hollywood is also all set to make India’s weekend a bit more thrilling with the release of The Conjuring 2: The Enfield Poltergeist. The film is a sequel to 2013 film Conjuring and this time demonologists Ed and Lorraine Warren come to England to investigate poltergeist activity in Enfield. Then there’s also Game of Thrones’ Emilia Clarke and Sam Claffin’s Me Before You, which is up for release. Punjabi film Once Upon A Time In Amritsar, Bengali films Parobash and Niyoti represent the regional section.

Today’s Big Release: Aishwarya Rai’s Sarbjit

Bollywood film Sarbjit starring Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Randeep Hooda and Richa Chadha is all set to hit the screens today.

The film is Aishwarya’s second after her five-year hiatus after flop film Jazbaa, which released last year. The trailer of Sarbjit promises a new innings for the 42-year-old actress. Sarbjit is directed by Omung Kumar, who had earlier directed Mary Kom with Priyanka Chopra in the lead.

Sarbjit chronicles the life of Indian farmer Sarabjit Singh (played by Randeep) who was killed in a Pakistani jail. It also tells the story of his sister Dalbir kaur (played by Ash), who leaves no stone unturned to get justice for her brother.

From the Hollywood section X-Men: Apocalypse starring James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Jennifer Lawrence, Oscar Isaac and Nicholas Hoult is releasing today.

Meanwhile, Brahmotsavam, starring Mahesh Babu, Kajal Aggarwal and Samantha Ruth Prabhu is releasing in Tamil and Telugu today. Dalquer Salmaan’s Malayalam film Kammatipaadam will also hit the screens today. Tamil film Maruthuand Kannada film U Turn also release today.

Gippy Garewal’s Kaptaan is also representing regional cinema.

Today’s Big Release: Madhavan’s Saala Khadoos

R Madhavan’s Saala Khadoos releases today. Ritika Singh, who plays the female lead, will make her debut with this film.

Directed by Sudha Kongara Prasad and co-produced by Rajkumar Hirani, Saala Khadoos revolves around Madhavan, a retired boxing coach, who trains a reluctant fisherwoman into a boxer. Ritika is also a real life kick boxer.

In an interview with NDTV, Madhavan had said that he has a lot of reasons to be nervous about Saala Khadoos. “I am nervous because I am a first time producer. I am nervous because Rajkumar Hirani’s name is attached to it and he hasn’t interfered at all with the film. I have a lot of reasons to be nervous about,” Madhavan told NDTV.

The film will also release in Tamil as Irudhi Suttru. Sunny Leone and Vir Das’ adult comedy film Mastizaade also releases today.

For those, who love animated films, can opt for Asterix: The Mansion of the Gods. It has been directed by Alexandre Astier and Louis Clichy.

Hollywood has two films on offer. William Brent Bell’s The Boy, starring Lauren Cohan and Rupert Evans, is a horror film. It narrates the story of Greta, who takes up a job of a nanny in a village. Soon after, she realises that the child, for whom she has been hired, is nothing but a doll. However, Greta is horrified as she realises that the doll is alive.

Lenny Abrahamson’s Room, on the other hand, revolves around the story of a young woman and her five-year-old son. Brie Larson and Jacob Tremblay play pivotal roles in the film.

Actor Akshay Kumar arrives with a patriotic message for audiences with his film Airlift up for release today. Directed by Raja Krishna Menon, the film is based on the evacuation of Indians from Kuwait in 1990. Akshay plays an influential businessman. Nimrat Kaur plays his wife.

The film is the third of Akshay’s films with a patriotic theme after 2014′s Holiday: A Soldier Is Never Off Duty and Baby which released in 2015.

Also up for release is the slapstick comedy Kya Kool Hai Hum 3 starring Tusshar Kapoor, Aftab Shivdasani, Mandana Karimi and Claudia Ciesla.

Hollywood has a string of films to offer including David O Russell’s Oscar-nominated Joy and Jake Blakeson’s The 5th Wave. Joy starring Jennifer Lawrence, Robert De Niro and Bradley Cooper, revolves around a self-made woman’s rise to the top in the ruthless world of business.

Today’s Big Release: Chalk N Duster

Moviegoers have only a handful of movies to choose this week. Filmmaker Jayant Gilatar’s Chalk N Duster releases today. The movie tracks the emotional journey of two teachers, Vidya and Jyoti, played by Shabana Azmi and Juhi Chawla, respectively.

This is the first time Juhi and Shabanaji will share screen space. Earlier, in an interview to IANS Juhi had said, “It was exciting for me. I worked with her for the first time and of course she’s a very accomplished actress. I had heard about her; how she goes on a set and how she familiarises herself with the surroundings to utilize the place well along with her character. The movie also stars Richa Chadha, Zarina Wahab, Divya Dutta, Aarya Babbar, Jackie Shroff and Samir Soni in key roles.

Hollywood has only one film to offer this week with The Hateful Eight releasing today in India. Directed by Quentin Tarantino, the movie shows how a group of bounty hunters chance upon a few strangers while seeking shelter from a blizzard, only to realise that things will take a nasty turn very soon.

The Hateful Eight stars Kurt Russell, Jennifer Jason Leigh, Samuel L Jackson and Channing Tatum.

Today’s Big Release: Wazir And Chauranga

The first big release of 2016 is here courtesy actors Amitabh Bachchan Farhan Akhtar and their film Wazir. The thriller drama film, directed by Bejoy Nambiar, is a revenge saga and a thriller with a unique friendship at its core.

Wazir features actor Neil Nitin Mukesh in the titular role. The film produced by Vidhu Vinod Chopra also stars actors John Abraham and Aditi Rao Hydari.

Then there is Onir and Sanjay Suri’s Chauranga, which is set in village that is steeped in caste-hierarchy, oppression and debauchery. The film tells the story of a 14-year-old Dalit boy, Santu, who rebels against societal norms.

For children, Chota Bheem has a thrilling Himalayan Adventure to narrate.

Hollywood has films like Daddy’s Home and Our Brand Is Crisis on its platter. Our Brand Is Crisis is a comedy-drama film directed by David Gordon Green and features Sandra Bullock in lead role, while Daddy’s Home is an endearing story of a ‘dad vs stepdad’ starring Will Ferrell and Mark Wahlberg.
