Actress-turned-writer Twinkle Khanna, who unveiled her debut book, Mrs Funnybones: She’s Just Like You and a Lot Like Me, says it is a woman’s humorous perspective on the state of women in India. (Also Read: 10 Secrets Twinkle, Aamir, Akshay, KJo Revealed About Each Other)

Twinkle said, “Mrs. Funnybones is about how modern woman looks in India and how India looks back at her. We live in a world where we have sent a satellite to Mars, but we are looking at the moon and praying for our husband’s long life.” She was referring to the festival of Karva Chauth where women break their fast after worshipping the moon.

Her husband Akshay Kumar, mother Dimple Kapadia, co-star Aamir Khan and one of her closest friends, filmmaker Karan Johar attended the book launch here on Tuesday to show their support.

The book launch also saw veteran actress Jaya Bachchan, Sussanne Khan and Sonali Bendre in attendance.

As far as book launches go, this one was not only more exalted but also more irreverent than most. On the evening of August 18, a gathering of celebrities presided over the launch of actress-turned-writer Twinkle Khanna‘s first book, Mrs Funnybones: She’s Just Like You and a Lot Like Me, in Mumbai. Twinkle’s mother Dimple Kapadia did the honours. In the audience were Jaya Bachchan, Susanne Roshan and Sonali Bendre. But it was the league of extraordinary gentlemen on stage with Twinkle who provided much of the evening’s entertainment – her husband Akshay Kumar and close friends Aamir Khan and Karan Johar.

Given that it was an evening to celebrate Twinkle’s now fabled quick wit and ready tongue, the repartee that each Bollywood star bounced off the other was cheeky, to say the least. We know Twinkle and filmmaker Karan Johar are childhood friends. And like a good friend KJo’s quote was included on the promotional poster of the book, tweeted by Penguin India.
