The acclaimed period piece Bajirao Mastani swept the National Awards – announced on Monday – with wins for its director Sanjay Leela Bhansali and Best Supporting Actress for Tanvi Azmi, among other awards.

Amitabh Bachchan won Best Actor for Piku – his fourth National Award – and Kangana Ranaut won Best Actress for Tanu Weds Manu Returns. This was the 29-year-old actress’ third National Award win after last year’s Best Actress National Award for Queen and 2009′s Best Supporting Actress National Award for Fashion.

Blockbuster: Tanu Weds Manu Returns crosses Rs 50 cr mark in 5 days

Kangana Ranaut‘s latest release Tanu Weds Manu Returns has set the cash registers ringing at the box office as the film has crossed Rs 50 crore mark in just five days. Directed by Aanand L Rai, the romantic comedy has emerged as the first blockbuster of 2015.

Trade Analyst Taran Adarsh took to Twitter to share its box office collection. The film has already minted Rs 55.25 crore in five days of its release.

Tanu Weds Manu Returns to Cheer Box Office With Rs 22 Cr in Two Days

Tanu Weds Manu Returns, the laugh riot starring Kangana Ranaut and R Madhavan, has given the box office a much-needed boost by minting almost Rs 22 crore within the first two days of its release. The film is expected to recover its initial cost of Rs 30 crore in the opening weekend itself.

Directed by Aanand L Rai, the film which is a sequel to the 2011 hit film, explores the ups and downs in the relationship of a married couple in a quirky way.

Bollywood films are once again ruling the box office after a lean spell. Aamir Khan‘s PK, which released in China last Friday, has shattered box office records again to become the best performing Indian film abroad of all time. Dubbed in Chinese, the film opened in 4,600 screens across the country – one of the widest releases any Indian film has received abroad.

Tanu Weds Manu Returns preponed due to Dil Dhadakne Do?

If you are waiting for Tanu Weds Manu Returns, here is a good news for you. The film’s release has been preponed from May 29 to May 22.

The film, starring Kangana Ranaut and R Madhavan, has been preponed so that its box-office run does not get hampered due to Dil Dhadakne Do which is scheduled for June 5 release.

Produced by Eros International & Colour Yellow Productions, the film, a sequel to the 2011 hit of the same name, has completed within its schedule so the makers decided to prepone its theatrical run by a week.

“While it was decided that Tanu Weds Manu Returns would release on May 29, the schedule was completed earlier than planned. The makers are happy with the way the film has shaped up and believe that it is ready for audiences to enjoy.

Now that’s what we call a real sequel! Tanu Weds Manu Returns’ trailer is out and it just raised our expectations from the film. In the sequel Kangana will be see in a double role. The lovable Tanu and tomboy Datto aka Kusum, an athlete from Haryana.

Going by the trailer, the films looks pure sequel of Tanu Weds Manu. It starts from where the prequel had ended. It’s been four years since Tanu and Manu’s eventful wedding and they’re already feeling the seven year itch. Settled in London, their relationship is now as cold as the London winter. Actress Kalki Koechlin says the video shows that women can be in control of their life.

Kalki, 31, who shared screen space with Deepika in ‘Yeh Jawani Hai Deewani’, liked the “spirit” of the Homi Adajania-directed short video.

“It is a very good thing that she has done, going out and saying what your choices are. If a man goes out at night and leaves his home, nobody is going to ask him where he is going… If a woman does, you are going to ask her where she is going. So, in that vein, this is the spirit of the video.

R Madhavan: Couldn’t Have Asked For a Better Comeback Than Tanu Weds Manu Returns

R Madhavan says he is restarting his Bollywood career with Tanu Weds Manu Returns after a gap of three years.

The 44-year-old actor kept a distance from films because he was not happy with his work.

“There is a time in every actor’s life when he has to face the self-created hurdle after he starts getting bored of work and suddenly realises that he is left behind.

“I realised after doing Tanu Weds Manu that I had become fat and was not performing up to the mark. I realised that I had become a terrible actor. I did Jodi Breakers which did not do well. So, I moved away from the film industry and lived with the common man to know where I was lacking and what do they want from an actor,” he said in an interview.
