Shamitabh Mints Rs 8.25 Cr on Opening Weekend

Director R Balki’s Shamitabh, starring Bollywood megastar Amitabh Bachchan and Dhanush, collected Rs 8.25 crore in two days. (Also read – Film Review: Shamitabh)

Mr Bachchan plays a voice artist, who lip syncs for a mute actor, played by Dhanush, in the film which released on February 6.

Shamitabh chronicles the story of two talented men, whose camaraderie turns a bitter due to ego clashes. The film also marks the debut of Akshara Haasan, veteran actor Kamal Haasan’s daughter, in Bollywood.

After a lul, Comedy Nights With Kapil is all set to tickle the funny bones with megastar Amitabh Bachchan, Dhanush and Akshara Haasan. The actors visited the sets of comedy show in a bid to promote their upcoming film Shamitabh.

On Monday, the “Shamitabh” team posted images on Twitter from their fun times on sets of “Comedy Nights with Kapil.”

Happy and elated Kapil posted a picture with Big B.

Shamitabh Trailer: Dhanush Speaks, It’s Amitabh Bachchan You Hear

The just-released second trailer of Shamitabh features Amitabh Bachchan as Dhanush’s aide in the film. Mr Bachchan is shown lip syncing for Dhanush, who plays a speech-challenged actor in the film.

The second trailers makes the interdependence of both characters its focus.

When Dhanush says into a microphone on stage, “Only the media can create a rift between a man’s face and his voice,” the voice is not his own but Mr Bachchan’s.

The two characters are also seen turning bitter in the film with Mr Bachchan’s character saying “What are you without me?” in one of the scenes.

While Akshara Haasan plays a director in Shamitabh, Dhanush plays an actor who rises to stardom with the help of Mr Bachchan.

‘Shamitabh’ is about ego clash, has amazing humour: Dhanush

Southern superstar Dhanush, who made a successful Bollywood debut in 2013 with “Raanjhanaa”, is gearing up for the release of his second Hindi film “Shamitabh”. He says its concept may sound serious, but at heart it’s a fun-filled entertainer.

“This film is about ego clash. The concept might sound serious but it’s a very fun-filled film. There is amazing humour in this film. It’s a new concept and hopefully it will be a refreshing experience for the audience,” Dhanush said here.

The actor is guarded about revealing what his character in “Shamitabh” is.

Amitabh Bachchan’s Shamitabh Co-Stars Rekha, But They Have No Scenes Together

Megastar Amitabh Bachchan, who stars with veteran actress Rekha in R Balki’s Shamitabh, says they however don’t share screen space in the film.

“We don’t actually come together, it’s part of the sequence and when you see the film, you will understand how it’s portrayed. But, yes it’s always great welcome to have such great luminaries in the film,” he told reporters during the film’s trailer launch.

“Balki keeps saying he wants to design a film with us (Big B and Rekha) but let’s see if somebody comes with interesting script. Why not,” he added.

Shamitabh also features Dhanush and Akshara Haasan among others.

Mr Bachchan says for this film, they have recorded the dialogues first before shooting for the film.

The much awaited trailer of Amitabh Bachchan‘s ‘Shamitabh‘ is finally out and we must not forget to quote that it is remarkable. Megastar Amitabh is seen in his superstar avatar, along with Dhanush and we thoroughly enjoy the rivalry between the two.

Though one does not comprehend much from the trailer, all we know is that there is some sort of personality clash between Dhanu- ‘SH-AMITABH’.

Dressed in nice tailored suits, both actors look elite and elegant.

Also, we must not forget young and newcomer Akshara Haasan, who does make her presence felt in the trailer.

First Look: A Bachchan and a ‘Dhanu’ Star in Shamitabh

If the title of R Balki’s work-in-progress film intrigued you, the first look is sure to catch your attention.

A poster of Shamitabh has just been released and features the lead actors Amitabh Bachchan and Dhanush in opera-style jackets with their names in lights across an old-fashioned cinema hoarding. However, it doesn’t read as you’d expect it to but in a jumble of sorts in which the last two letters of ‘Dhanush’ and Mr Bachchan’s entire first name make up the title of the film: Dhanu-SHAMITABH-Bachchan.

An ‘audio poster’ featuring Big B has also been released.

In the ‘audio poster,’ a reporter is heard asking Mr Shamitabh when his next “picture will release”. A drunken Shamitabh (played by Big B) answers, “When the audio and video get mixed, how you can call it a picture?” He adds, “It’s not a picture, but a mixture.”

Revealed: Akshara Haasan’s look in Shamitabh

R Balki’s upcoming drama ‘Shamitabh’ has three heroes as he calls it — the legend Amitabh Bachchan, the supremely talented Dhanush and the debutante Akshara Haasan (daughter of Kamal Haasan and Sarika). For the first time, we reveal Akshara’s first look in the film.

Telling us about her, Balki says, “Akshara is clear proof that genetic science is true. She has the best of both her parents and seeing her perform, you feel that she was just born to act. Akshara has the tough role of controlling two men who are fighting with each other in the film and even though she has never faced the camera before, she is such a natural actor.” Given Balki’s view, we can clearly see another star in the making.
