“When Karan (Johar) and the director Shakun (Batra) came to meet me, I suggested that they take Cannom because I had heard of him. I was not sure about this suggestion being agreed upon since it would be a costly affair, but Karan agreed even though he knew that this would cost him around Rs 1.5 to Rs 1.75 crore. Shakun and I met up with Cannom and discussed the look and we decided that it would be a mix of Rishi Kapoor and A K Hangal’s look.”

“During the shoot, I had to sit for five hours every day for almost a month and I had to wake up at 5 am. I am a drinking man and people say I have no patience, but for me to wake up early every day and sit for five hours straight was a bit of a task. It would take that much time to put the make up on and then about an hour to remove it at the end of the day. Cannom has invented these really thin silicon layers that were like second skin. He would use eight of them – six on my face and two on my hands. Then he would create everything, the wrinkles, age spots, everything. I am so grateful that I got this opportunity. However, things weren’t really wonderful on the sets after the five-hour ordeal. “Throughout the film I would be fighting with the director. Every scene, every shot we fought. My problem was that he would take the entire scene from every angle which made me uncomfortable. I might be old fashioned, but I cannot create spontaneity if you are going to shoot from every angle. We were on the same page as actors but not as far as execution was concerned. However, the end product is what matters,” he adds.

While Asin kept mum on the topic, Mr Kapoor kept dropping hints. “Why don’t you say something? Should I get you a tablet?”, the actor said in an obvious reference to Rahul Sharma’s mobile phone company. “Please say something, aap ‘Sharma’ kyu rahi hain? We haven’t heard anything from her. She is all the time Sharma’oing,” Kapoor quipped.

Asin blushed after Mr Kapoor’s response and quickly added, “I had this coming”. In All Is Well, Mr Kapoor plays the father of Abhishek Bachchan whose love interest is Asin. The Ghajini star is making a comeback to Bollywood after three years with the Umesh Shukla-directed comedy.

All Is Well also stars Supriya Pathak and will hit theatres on August 21.

Padmini Kolhapure, now 49, starred with 65-year-old Rishi Kapoor in several films, beginning with 1981′s Zamaane Ko Dikhana Hai which was her first film as a lead actor (she was a successful child star).

We’re not all that sure about the ‘can work in film if good role’ statement made so optimistically by Mr Kapoor. Meenakshi Seshadri, in Mumbai for a filmi event, told news agency IANS this just a day ago: “I am not interested in films at this point. I would like to do stage production and dance dramas.”

She’s not going to be in the Ghayal sequel that Sunny Deol is making, despite starring in the original. There were talks, but nothing materialised. Whatever you have heard so far, it’s all just stories and not true,” she said.

But never say never. “I didn’t work in movies for this long because my kids and family are more important to me. I am thinking that the day my daughter graduates, maybe at that time I will think about something,” Ms Seshadri told IANS.

Meenakshi Seshadri, a former beauty queen, was a hugely popular heroine for a brief period in the mid-Eighties to the lateish Nineties. Apart from Damini and Ghayal, she starred in film such as Ganga Jamunaa Saraswati, Hero, Shahenshah and Bees Saal Baad. Her very last film was 1996′s Ghatak, opposite Sunny Deol.

While speaking to Hindustan Times, the 62 year old actor revealed that he doesn’t know the details of his son’s love life. He was quoted saying, “Ever since I have been on social media, more and more people have been asking me about them. I don’t know much myself.”

“They have said they want to keep things private and they like the way things are. They hardly talk about their relationship with anyone, and he (Ranbir) doesn’t talk much about it with us. So I am sorry, but I myself don’t know much about them. What can I say then? And honestly, I am fine with it. I mean, it’s their decision and I respect that,” he added.

The veteran actor and India’s ‘longest running on-screen lover-boy’, played Madhuri’s hero in three films. They worked in Sahibaan, Yaarana and Prem Granth together. However, none of the three films succeeded at the box-office.

There is enough traffic already, cars are parked on both sides of the road – where is the space for hawkers?
