Similarities to Akshay Kumar’s ‘Baby’, makers postpone Katrina Kaif, Saif Ali Khan’s ‘Phantom’

The release of Saif Ali Khan and Katrina Kaif’s upcoming terror drama, ‘Phantom’ has been postponed from April to August. Apparently the reason for this delay is that there are quite a few similarities to Neeraj Pandey’s recently released ‘Baby’ starring Akshay Kumar, which is going strong at the box office. The plot of the two films is said to be quite similar. ‘Phantom’ tells the tale of Daniyal, who travels from India to Europe, America and West Asia seeking justice, post the 26/11 terrorist attacks in Mumbai. ‘Baby’ on the other hand, revolves around Ajay Rajput, who journeys to Istanbul, Nepal and Abu Dhabi on a special mission.

Phantom: Saif, Katrina starrer to release on August 28

Saif Ali Khan and Katrina Kaif‘s much awaited film Phantom will finally see the light of the day. The film which was slated to be originally released in October 2014 will finally hit the screens on August 28.

Trade analyst Taran Adarsh took to micro blogging website Twitter to share the news.

Directed by Kabir Khan, the release date of action spy thriller was earlier pushed from October 2014 to February 2015, apparently due to long schedule in Canada. But the production house has finally blocked the release date of Phantom.
