Housefull 3 is the third instalment in the Housefull franchise. Abhishek, in a recent interview, said that he was nervous about the film. “I was very nervous. When you are working on a franchise, which is so immensely successful, you don’t want to let down fans of Housefull,” Abhishek had told news agency IANS.

Raaz Reboot, which is a fourth instalment in the Raaz series, will also release today. It stars Emraan Hashmi and Kriti Kharbanda.

Ninja Turtles, Me Before You and The Nice Guys will represent the Hollywood section.

Thea Sharrock’s Me Before You casts Emilia Clarke and Sam Claflin. It narrates the story of a girl who falls for a paralyzed man whom she has been nursing.

Shane Black’s The Nice Guys stars Russell Crowe, Ryan Gosling and Angourie Rice in pivotal roles.

In a tweet on Wednesday, Mr Chopra said the rumours are untrue but also that he and Ms Fakhri are simply ‘close friends’ – we did say it was an update of sorts.

The rumours referred to had the couple break up over WhatsApp and Ms Fakhri leaving for New York after Mr Chopra cancelled their wedding (apparently she also had a nervous breakdown) – none of this happened, says Uday Chopra.

Nargis Fakhri’s film Azhar released last Friday and her absence at promotional events was explained away as exhaustion due to overwork.

“Nargis has been extremely overworked working on three films simultaneously over the last year. For someone who is used to doing one film at a time, this was quite a bit for Nargis. In addition, she has been unwell right through the Azhar promotions with multiple injuries – torn hamstring, anterior knee ligament thinning and mild socket dislocation along with burning of the stomach lining due to lead and arsenic poisoning. Due to these multiple issues and her overall exhaustion, she had a fever of about 101 degrees right through her promotions,” read an official statement from the actress’ spokesperson.

Uday Chopra, 43, is the star of films like Mere Yaar Ki Shaadi Hai, Mujhse Dosti Karoge!, Dhoom and Pyaar Impossible!. He was last seen in Dhoom: 3 and now heads a division of Yash Raj Films.

Meanwhile, Nargis Fakhri, 36, will soon be seen in Housefull 3.

“Sajid Khan didn’t want to direct Housefull 3 because he was busy with Himmatwala at that time. Besides, this is a difficult genre to write also,” said Sajid Nadiadwala.

“After sometime, they also say that we don’t want to because the genre gets saturated. So, it becomes difficult to edit and make a trailer for this film. Usually, a writer, after one or two films gets into a saturation mode,” added Mr Nadiadwala.

Housefull 3, featuring Akshay Kumar, Riteish Deshmukh, Abhishek Bachchan, Jacqueline Fernandez, Nargis Fakhri, and Lisa Haydon, has been directed by Sajid-Farhad.

Housefull 3 is scheduled to release on June 3.

“We have locked Nargis to play Sangeeta Bijlani in the film. She fits the bill in terms of looks, style and glamour. We did the look test with her. She is a talented actress and we are glad to have her on board,” sources said.

In order to get into the skin of the character, Nargis will attend some workshops. Actresses like Kareena Kapoor Khan, Jacqueline Fernandez, Nimrat Kaur were previously considered for the role.

Besides Nargis there will another actress in the film. “There will be another heroine; she too will be an established one. We are yet to decide who we should cast,” the source added.

Azhar will trace the journey of Azharuddin’s career and his personal life, which have witnessed many ups and down.

The film is likely to go on floors next month.
