Today’s Big Release: Kill Dil, John Wick

Moviegoers are in for a treat as one of 2014′s much awaited film Kill Dil hits the theatres today. The film which features Ranveer Singh, Govinda, Parineeti Chopra and Ali Zafar in lead roles, is directed by Shaad Ali (of Saathiya fame) and is produced by the Yash Raj Films.

Kill Dil‘s USP lies in the fact that it marks the return of veteran actor Govinda and that too in a negative role. Though the 90s superstar has been previously seen in a negative role in the film Shikari (2000), the makers assure that this film will present Govinda like you’ve never seen before, something his co-stars have corroborated.

Shaad Ali’s ‘Kill Dil’ is a fine example of a film marred by lousy storytelling. It’s an even bigger shame since the director did manage to get a decent cast in place, who seem completely convinced about this ridiculous plot.

Even if you were to make discounts for a disjointed plot trajectory and absence of credible plot points, I somehow couldn’t make peace with a complete disregard for rationale.

Yes, yes, there are a lot of Hindi films completely bereft of logic, the most recent one being ‘Happy New Year’ that I did like. ‘Dabangg’, ‘Dhoom 3’, ‘Kick’, among others, with their flimsy plotlines and over-the-top histrionics, somehow managed to engage me for the runtime of the film. And while I might have been clicking my tongue as I walked out of the theatre at the excesses, I nonetheless still enjoyed these films while I was watching them.

Unfortunately, I can’t say the same for ‘Kill Dil’.

New song from Kill Dil, Nakhrilay takes you back in the 90s era with its elaborate music arrangement and sound.

Sounds of Dholak, claps and other traditional instruments are fused with the classic qawwali style. Delightful vocals by Shankar Mahadevan, Ali Zafar and Mahalakshmi Iyer make the song a complete party number.

The vintage background, choreography, style, dance, music of the song bring back memories of the era gone by. Dressed as cowboys and cowgirls, Ali, Parineeti and Ranveer match step on this delightful number.

The latest song to come out from the Kill Dil guys is already making people swoon over it. Ranveer Singh and Parineeti Chopra‘s ‘Sajde’ is a peppy, romatic number, which has the actors oozing oomph all over the video.

The song begins with a tantalising sequence, where Parineeti takes off Ranveer’s coat, shirt, and stops once the bare-torso-ed Ranveer follows her in the rain. The scene shifts to an almost-dreamy scenery, where the wayfarer-clad actors are seen in vintage dresses.

Ranveer Singh turns dance teacher for Kill Dil

Ranveer Singh, who has been making headlines for his acts, ranging from normal to bizarre, is now donning the mantle of a choreographer. For his upcoming film Kill Dil, Singh has taught his co-star Parineeti Chopra a few steps, too.

According to a report, Aditya Chopra and director Shaad Ali had gotten Ganesh Acharya on board to choreograph Kill Dill’s recently released song Sweeta. But when Ganesh heard the track and understood the part of the story it was in, he decided to hand over the reins to Ranveer.
