Khoobsurat Heads Towards Happy Ending Due to Positive Word Of Mouth

Khoobsurat, starring Sonam Kapoor and the Pakistani sensation Fawad Khan, might not have minted Rs 100 crores in a week, but the Shashanka Ghosh directed film has managed to earn a profit, thanks to positive word-of-mouth, says its co-producer.

Anil Kapoor and his daughter Rhea had joined hands with Walt Disney Studios to co-produce Khoobsurat, a remake of the 1980 film Khubsoorat starring Rekha.

Made at a Rs 12 crore budget, it hit 800 domestic screens on September 19.

In India, it has collected Rs 19.10 crore in one week.

It also released in 18 international territories like North America, Britain and Pakistan at across nearly 300 screens and minted over $2 million till Thursday.

“Daawat-e-Ishq” has minted more than “Khoobsurat” in the past four days, but they didn’t meet the expectations of the audience, says an expert.Anil Kapoor and his daughter Rhea had joined hands with Walt Disney Studios to co-produce “Khoobsurat“, a remake of the 1980 Rekha starrer “Khubsoorat”.

Habib Faisal’s directorial “Daawat-e-Ishq” also couldn’t pull in the audience to theatres much.It minted Rs.15.63 crore in four days, said a statement.”It has done better than ‘Khoobsurat‘, but not great,” said Thadani.The movie’s stars Aditya Roy Kapoor and Parineeti Chopra had also gone on a food yatra to promote the film.

Fawad Khan, Sonam Kapoor visit Wagah Border to promote ‘Khoobsurat’

Fawad Khan and Sonam Kapoor attended the Beating Retreat ceremony to promote their film ‘Khoobsurat’.

The presence of the celebrities last evening here not only brought smiles to the faces of Indian soldiers but also to their Pakistani counterparts who were equally excited to have a glimpse of them.

Sonam, 29, and the 32-year-old Pakistani actor shook hands with Pakistani Rangers and also exchanged pleasantries.

Rekha, Sridevi at special screening of Sonam Kapoor’s ‘Khoobsurat’

Veteran actresses Rekha and Sridevi attended the special screening of Sonam Kapoor and Fawad Khan-starrer ‘Khoobsurat’.

The Disney film is the remake of Hrishikesh Mukherjee’s 1980 Rekha-starrer ‘Khoobsurat’. Sonam reprises the character played by Rekha in the original.
