Irrfan has wrapped Ron Howard’s Inferno with Tom Hanks, who has been recently voted Hollywood’s greatest actor, and Irrfan was in agreement saying: “Tom Hanks was an actor secure in his space. He has no air and is so talented.”

And believe it or not, Irrfan who was approached for Steven Spielberg’s latest with Scarlett Johansson, turned down the film. “I didn’t feel the character offered to me gave me much scope. So I said ‘No’; though Scarlett Johansson is an actor I would have loved to share screen space with,” he said.

“I felt the character did not have enough meat to explore myself as an actor. Hence, I said ‘No’. Else who wouldn’t want to work with Steven Spielberg?” Irrfan told IANS.

He also added: “I am at a stage in my career where I am trying my best to surprise my audience with every role and give them some. Irrfan, an actor who loves to surprise himself and his audience, is yet to sign another Hindi film. Isn’t it a scary situation for an actor? “Not at all,” he smiled nonchalantly.

Irrfan, who last year appeared in hit films like Piku and Jurassic World, will be next seen in Hollywood film Inferno along with Tom Hanks, who reprises the role of Professor Robert Langdon, in the film based on Dan Brown’s novel of the same name.

Deepika, 29, had first fuelled speculation about a possible Hollywood debut by sharing a picture with Vin Diesel where she is seen hugging the Hollywood hunk while looking mysteriously at the camera.

Though Vin Diesel, 48, had left the fans guessing by revealing nothing in the caption, Deepika’s Piku co-star Irrfan Khan congratulated the actress.

There were reports that Deepika had turned down Vin Diesel’s Fast and Furious 7 to accommodate dates for her 2014 release Happy New Year.

xXx, a 2002 American action film directed by Rob Cohen, starred Vin Diesel as Xander Cage, a thrill-seeking extreme sports enthusiast, stuntman and rebellious athlete-turned- reluctant spy for the national security agency.

Trade analyst Taran Adarsh, who had predicted a better Saturday for the movie tweeted the figures on October 11.

The crime-thriller, which opened to mixed reviews on Friday, also stars Irrfan Khan and had minted a slightly lesser amount on October 9, the day of its release.

Jazbaa has been regarded as the Guzaarish actress’ comeback movie but her co-star Irrfan believes otherwise. “For me she was always here. She didn’t go anywhere. An actor should be allowed a gap. Her audience is still with her. People are her fan, her admirers, and they’ll definitely go to watch her,” he said in an interview to PTI.

However, in his review to NDTV, Saibal Chatterjee said: “It has just enough for Aishwarya Rai Bachchan fans to justify a trip to the multiplexes,” before pointing out that the movie “Is just as much, if not more, Irrfan Khan’s film.”

Directed by Sanjay Gupta, Jazbaa features Aishwarya as an advocate and Irrfan as a suspended cop. The movie also stars Bollywood veteran Shabana Azmi and is the Hindi remake of a South Korean crime film.

But here’s what Irrfan really wants.

He wants to spend some quality time with his family before starting his next project with Geneva-based director Anup Singh.

“It has been a great year with lots of exciting work happening. I have been extensively travelling for shoots and promotions. I’m looking forward to spend some quality time with my family before I start my next film with Anup Singh,” Irrfan said in a statement.

Irrfan, 48, made his debut in the film industry with Mira Nair’s 1988 National Award-winning film Salaam Bombay. However, Irrfan came into the limelight with Tigmanshu Dhulia’s 2003 film Haasil.

“Audience wasn’t ready for Haasil, when it released. People still watch it and relate to the film, especially today’s youngsters. But during that time, the audience wasn’t prepared because they didn’t have a place to watch these kind of films. Then multiplexes came and changed everything, pulling in the middle class crowd. Haasil was ahead of its time. So we had to wait a long time to do our kind of work,” said Irrfan.

Irrfan has worked in films like Maqbool, The Namesake and Life in a…Metro.

The actor also said that the scenario was completely different when he entered the industry. “When I came to the industry, I saw cinema being made only for front benchers, for one class and then it started changing. Today audience wants to watch cinema of every kind. Youth is changing Bollywood. They’ve seen international cinema and they want our cinema to be commercial and yet tell the stories of society,” added Irrfan.

“I’m looking forward to shoot with her. I was mesmerised when I saw her in another film. Her beauty is like poetry. Anup (Singh) and I instantly felt she would be the right fit for the role,” Irrfan Khan said in a statement.

The Iranian beauty is currently working opposite Hollywood actor Johnny Depp in the upcoming movie Pirates of the Caribbean 5.

The movie will be based on folklore from the Indian state of Rajasthan.

Sanjay Gupta is of the opinion – some may not agree – that he has given the 48-year-old actor a ‘makeover’ in the film.

Jazbaa is Aishwarya Rai Bachchan‘s first film since 2010′s Guzaarish. She plays a lawyer in the movie which also co-stars Shabana Azmi and Anupam Kher.

“Piku“, also starring Deepika Padukone in the titular role, is about her relationship with her father (Bachchan), who spends most of his time obsessing over age-related issues. Irrfan forms the third wheel of the story. Shoojit now feels the megastar’s chemistry with Irrfan is one of the highlights of the movie.
