Omar Abdullah denies he complained against movie ‘Haider’

Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has denied news reports about his complaint against Vishal Bhardwaj’s “Haider”, saying he had not even watched the movie yet.

Reacting sharply to a news report carried by a news portal that said the chief minister had complained to Bollywood film maker Vishal Bhardwaj over the film’s depiction of Kashmir, Omar wrote on his Twitter site, “So this website has to be awarded for the most amazing work of fiction I have seen in a very long time.”

Omar Abdullah has also demanded the news be withdrawn with a correction.

So, Haider is a brilliant adaptation of Shakespeare’s Hamlet where a new character – Kashmir – joins the drama’s kings and queens. Vishal Bhardwaj’s Kashmir isn’t shikaras and Shammi Kapoor though. Set in 1995, amidst militancy and martial rule, this Kashmir is gray smoke and brown trees, frozen waters and fires glowing angrily on a lake.

Shraddha Kapoor promotes Haider in Ahmedabad

When she last visited Ahmedabad for another promotional activity earlier this year, Shraddha Kapoor had claimed she was “simply enjoying” the promotional activities and “going with the flow.”

But with a couple of big ticket hits tucked under her designer belt, Shraddha’s career graph’s skyrocketed. However, that seems to have little effect on Shraddha as she accepted to still having “butterflies” in her stomach before the release of Haider.

Shraddha, who recently visited Ahmedabad, seemed in awe of the Navratri celebrations and even struck picture-perfect dandiya poses with Shahid Kapoor, before settling for a chat.

Shahid Kapoor has given one of the biggest hits of his career with Vishal Bhardwaj’s ‘Kaminey’ and now the duo has teamed up again for ‘Haider‘, which the actor says is the best film of his career so far.

“I can proudly say ‘Haider‘ is the best film of my career. This film has everything that I haven’t done before. I have pinned my hopes on this film,” Shahid told reporters in a group interview.

Released in 2009, ‘Kaminey’ starred Shahid in a double role and he won accolades for his performance from all quarters.

Irrfan Khan, who plays Tabu‘s dead husband in Vishal Bhardwaj’s ‘Haider‘, says it is the best performance of the star’s career.

The ‘Maachis’ actress would be seen playing the role of a mother in the modern adaptation of Shakespeare’s tragedy ‘Hamlet’.

“Tabu has brought in a modern day mother India in @Haidermovie with mystery. One of the best performance of her career,” Irrfan tweeted.

Shahid, Shraddha will be the first celebrity guests on ‘Bigg Boss 8′

Actors Shahid Kapoor and his ‘Haider‘ co-star Shraddha Kapoor will be the first guests to be a part of Salman Khan-hosted celebrity reality show ‘Bigg Boss 8.

The two will be seen promoting their upcoming film ‘Haider‘ which will hit theatres on October 2.

This is not the first time Shahid is appearing on the show. The 33-year-old actor has been part of the show during promotions of his previous films ‘Phata Poster Nikhla Hero’ and ‘R… Rajkumar.
