“Athiya is my sister’s friend. People forget that you can have friends in the industry and that it is a normal thing. I have known her for many years. I don’t understand why there is a sudden speculation,” Arjun told PTI.

“But it is embarrassing to get linked to someone you have known for a long time. She (Athiya) is a sweet girl,” added Arjun. Arjun said that he is used to such rumours by now.

“Media saw us (Athiya and I) together at a party so it all started. It is a part and parcel of the film industry. The speculation is normal. I am getting used to it as that it is how things happen. It doesn’t spoil relationships as we know the truth. It doesn’t affect our personal relationship just because something is written in papers. It is fickle if you get affected by a third person writing about it,” added Arjun.

Arjun also said that he is bad with relationships.

“I am no relationship expert. I am not good with relationships. So, I should be the last person to be asked such things,” said Arjun.

“It is unfair to say anything on what went wrong between two people as it is a private matter. We should respect the privacy of people. It is demeaning to talk about their life,” he added.

“Sonam is the best style icon in Bollywood. Nobody can be compared to her,” Athiya, daughter of Suniel Shetty, said at an event organised by Femina in Mumbai.

When asked about being compared to Sonam, she said: “Sonam has made a mark of her own. She is beautiful and one of the most talented actresses we have today.”

Athiya said that her own style is very simple.

“I’m a simple person. I am happy to wear whatever is comfortable for me. I don’t necessarily wear everything which is in style, but something which suits the body type. One should wear clothes which flatter you and make you feel comfortable and confident,” she said.

“I have just made an entry in Bollywood and have many more things to learn,” she said, adding that her New Year resolution would be “hard work and patience”.

Salman, who has aggressively promoted the film along with Sooraj and Athiya, said that he is not launching them because they are ‘star kids’. Sooraj is the son of actor couple Aditya Pancholi and Zarina Wahab, while Athiya is the daughter of actor Suniel Shetty and Mana.

“People are saying that we have launched them Athiya and Sooraj because they are star kids. But it is not like that. We are not launching them because they are Aditya and Suniel’s kids. I have seen Athiya and Sooraj’s work and they are brilliant and good at what they do. They are very sorted,” Salman told news agency IANS.

Other than Hero, films like Hum Sub Ullu hai, Mere Genie Uncle, Rupinder Gandhi – The Gangster and Tera Mera Tedha Medha are also up for release.

In regional cinema, Tamilselvanum Thaniyar Anjalum will hit the screens, while Hollywood has We Are Your Friends and The Perfect Guy on its platter.

Athiya, 22, is making her Bollywood debut with Nikhil Advani’s “Hero” opposite newcomer Sooraj, Aditya Pancholi’s son.

Happy with her decision to make acting her career, Suniel, 53, said the only advice he has for Athiya is to conduct herself well in the industry.

The actor was present at an art exhibition, when he was asked if he would like to give advice to his daughter. “I don’t think I can suggest anything to anyone. They are from the young generation and are very well aware,? he said.

“I just said that don’t be afraid of Friday. If you lose on the first Friday, then work hard and go for your next. I believe producers suffer a lot, so when it comes to your producer, make sure that you feel for him and work with your heart,” Suniel Shetty added.

Co-produced by Salman Khan and Subhash Ghai, Hero also marks the debut of actor Aditya Pancholi’s son, Suraj.

The Hera Pheri star is happy that the first look of the film was received well. “The first look of Hero was received very well with a lot of love and affection, especially from the media. So far, the response is damn good,” he said.

Directed by Nikhil Advani, Hero is a remake of Subhash Ghai?s 1983 film of the same name. The movie also features Tigmanshu Dhulia and is slated to release on September 11.

Suraj made his way to the stage after producer Salman Khan, filmmaker Subhash Ghai, and director Nikhil Advani were introduced. As soon as he was on stage with Athiya, he gave his mentor Salman a tight hug. This moment of emotion got him overwhelmed following which the actor broke into tears.
