Akshay Kumar and Karan Johar have teamed up yet again for a film based on The Battle of Saragarhi titled Kesari. Earlier today, Karan had made fans excited with a mini-announcement about the film’s release and wrote, “Mega film announcement coming up….watch this space!!!”
In what seems like a special treat for fans, Akshay Kumar and Karan Johar have teamed up yet again for a film based on The Battle of Saragarhi titled Kesari. A post shared by Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions’ official Twitter handle reads “Akshay Kumar and Karan Johar proudly present ‘Kesari’ based on one of the bravest battles fought in India ‘The Battle of Saragarhi’ Directed by Anurag Singh and starring Akshay Kumar Releasing Holi 2019.”

Helmed by Shree Narayan Singh, Toilet: Ek Prem Katha starring Akshay Kumar and Bhumi Pednekar has had a stupendous run at the box office since its release on August 11. And now, the film has crossed another milestone with its week 4 collections. The film has become Akshay’s highest grosser till now.
Toilet: Ek Prem Katha has become Akshay Kumar’s lifetime highest grosser with a collection of Rs 133.60 crore, as confirmed by director Shree Narayan Singh. Till Friday, the title was held by Akshay’s 2012 film, Rowdy Rathore that also starred Sonakshi Sinha. While Toilet: Ek Prem Katha is Akshay’s second film of the year after Jolly LLB 2, 2017 is turning out to be a super year for the actor. Both the films have crossed the coveted Rs 100 crore mark and have also been receiving appreciation from all corners.

It appears, Akshay Kumar will be taking a break from the ‘social cause’ films like Toilet: Ek Prem Katha and be seen in Veeram’s Hindi remake. The remake is reportedly going to be directed by Farhad Samji. Some reports have suggested the film will be called ‘Land of Lungi’.
Akshay Kumar is on a roll with some great projects in his kitty. The original Khiladi just gave a box office hit with Toilet: Ek Prem Katha, and now we hear that he will be seen in Veeram’s Hindi remake. From what we hear, Akshay Kumar will be taking a break from ‘social cause’ films. And after Padman and 2.0 with Rajinikanth, he will reportedly be seen in Veeram’s Hindi remake.
The Hindi remake of Veeram with Akshay Kumar is reportedly going to be directed by Farhad Samji of the Sajid-Farhad duo. While some reports suggest that the film will be called ‘Land of Lungi’, there is no confirmation on the same. When we contacted director Farhad Samji, his wife confirmed this news and expressed excitement. She said,”Farhad is in talks with Akshay Kumar for this film, but he will be able to confirm once things materialise.”

Rustom Vahi, the new song from Akshay Kumar’s next film, is the perfect teaser to the thrill fest that Rustom is promising to be.

Sung by Sukriti Kakar, the song is a fast-paced track which keeps you on the edge. It features Akshay Kumar’s character, Rustom Pavri, and his wife, played by Ileana D’Cruz.

Akshay, 48, plays a fictionalized version of real-life naval officer K M Nanavati who was tried for the murder of his wife’s lover – a role taken in the film by Arjan Bajwa.

Written by Manoj Muntashir, Rustom Vahi has been composed by Raghav Sachar. The film is set to hit screens on August 12.

What Ashutosh Gowariker Has to Say About Mohenjo Daro Vs Rustom

Mohenjo Daro, featuring Hrithik Roshan, will be clashing with Akshay Kumar-starrer Rustom at the box office. But Ashutosh Gowariker, who has directed the former, says both the films should be a superhit.

Asked if the clash is of any concern, Gowariker said: “The thought did come to our mind that the films will clash and box office will get affected, but then even Sholay and Jai Santoshi Maa released on same date and Jai Santoshi Maa was a bigger hit because its cost of recovery was higher.

“Lagaan and Gaddar had released on the same date too. So, I feel Mohenjo Daro should also work and Rustom should also work. Both the films should be superhits.”

The movies will hit the screens on August 12.

Talking about Mohenjo Daro, which also stars Pooja Hegde, Gowariker said: “Language was a difficult topic for this film. We thought we will have a blend of a bit of Sindhi, a bit of Hindi and it creates the feeling of the old world. I didn’t want the audience to get alienated… Everybody should understand it.”

The movie is an epic adventure-romance, set in the ancient city of Mohenjo-daro in the era of the Indus Valley civilisation.

What fascinates him to make period dramas?

He said: “I have often asked this question to myself and I realised that I get excited by untold stories. It excites me to get into that time. I used to fail in history. I never used to remember dates, but the idea of telling untold stories inspired me,” he said.

Today’s Big Release: Akshay Kumar’s Housefull 3

The much-awaited film Housefull 3 releases today. Directed by Sajid-Farhad, Housefull 3 features an ensemble cast starring Akshay Kumar, Abhishek Bachchan, Riteish Deshmukh, Lisa Haydon, Jacqueline Fernandez and Nargis Fakhri.

Housefull 3 is the third instalment in the Housefull franchise. Abhishek, in a recent interview, said that he was nervous about the film. “I was very nervous. When you are working on a franchise, which is so immensely successful, you don’t want to let down fans of Housefull,” Abhishek had told news agency IANS.

Raaz Reboot, which is a fourth instalment in the Raaz series, will also release today. It stars Emraan Hashmi and Kriti Kharbanda.

Ninja Turtles, Me Before You and The Nice Guys will represent the Hollywood section.

Thea Sharrock’s Me Before You casts Emilia Clarke and Sam Claflin. It narrates the story of a girl who falls for a paralyzed man whom she has been nursing.

Shane Black’s The Nice Guys stars Russell Crowe, Ryan Gosling and Angourie Rice in pivotal roles.

No Date Change For Hrithik’s Mohenjo Daro, to Clash With Akshay’s Film

Hrithik Roshan‘s next film Mohenjo Daro will keep its date with the box office on August 12 as scheduled, read a statement on behalf of director Ashutosh Gowariker on Tuesday.

Mohenjo Daro releases on the same day as Akshay Kumar’s Rustom and reports suggested that Mr Gowariker had been approached by Rustom’s producers to reschedule his film. Mr Gowariker’s statement insists that no such negotiations have taken place.

The release date of Mohenjo Daro was announced in January 2015 and Mr Gowariker says there will be no change in the calendar.

The period piece, set in the Indus Valley Civilization, will be Hrithik Roshan‘s first release since 2014′s Bang Bang! and co-stars Pooja Hegde, Arunoday Singh and Kabir Bedi.

Hrithik’s 2017 film Kaabil will also clash at the box office with Shah Rukh Khan‘s Raees and Ajay Devgn’s Baadshaho next January.

Rustomreunites Akshay Kumar with Baby director Neeraj Pandey and co-stars Ileana D’Cruz and Esha Gupta.

The Reason Why Sajid Khan Did Not Direct Housefull 3

Filmmaker Sajid Khan, who had directed Housefull and Housefull 2, chose to step out of Housefull 3 himself, says producer Sajid Nadiadwala.

“Sajid Khan didn’t want to direct Housefull 3 because he was busy with Himmatwala at that time. Besides, this is a difficult genre to write also,” said Sajid Nadiadwala.

“After sometime, they also say that we don’t want to because the genre gets saturated. So, it becomes difficult to edit and make a trailer for this film. Usually, a writer, after one or two films gets into a saturation mode,” added Mr Nadiadwala.

Housefull 3, featuring Akshay Kumar, Riteish Deshmukh, Abhishek Bachchan, Jacqueline Fernandez, Nargis Fakhri, and Lisa Haydon, has been directed by Sajid-Farhad.

Housefull 3 is scheduled to release on June 3.

John Abraham’s ‘Guruji’ Akshay Kumar is a ‘More Successful Actor’

Actor John Abraham, who has done films like Garam Masala and Desi Boyz with Akshay Kumar, said that Akshay is a “self-made man” in Bollywood and is a “much more successful actor” than him.

“Akshay’s journey in the film industry has been very inspirational. He is a self-made man himself. He got into the industry around 1985 and I got in around 2003, but our journey has been similar. He is a much more successful actor than I am. I respect him a lot,” said John.

John also said that he learned about the comedy genre from Akshay.

“We have done three movies together – Garam Masala, Housefull 2 and Desi Boyz. I love comedy as a genre and whatever I have learned in comedy is from him. That is the reason why I call him guruji and he calls me sundi,” added John.

John is currently gearing up for his new film Rocky Handsome, which will release on March 25.
